I am Milan Deconninck, an energetic and enthusiastic programmer seeking a new challenge. Following an intensive training program focused on PHP, I am eager to secure my first professional experience in the field. I am a fast learner, always ready to support my colleagues, and have a lifelong passion for technology.
Background
Originally from Houthulst, West Flanders, I initially pursued a career in education, studying History and Geography. However, the pandemic prompted a period of reflection and professional redirection. Following a year in back-office operations at De Watergroep, I spent nearly four years at Vanden Borre, where I honed my skills in customer relations and sales. Despite my success in retail, my decade-long fascination with technology led me to pivot toward IT. What began as a passion for building hardware eventually evolved into a drive for software development. I recently completed an intensive PHP development program through VDAB, where I successfully bridged the gap between my technical interests and professional skills. I am now eager to apply my background in problem-solving and communication to a junior developer role and continue growing within the tech industry.
Hobbies
Beyond my passion for computers and technology, I have several other hobbies that keep me active. I spend most of my free time practicing judo, a sport I have been involved in for nearly my entire life. It has not only strengthened me physically but also taught me vital lessons in discipline, respect, and perseverance. Over the years, I have grown significantly within the sport and have been serving as a trainer and coach for all age groups for several years now. I am also an avid gamer, specifically enjoying sports simulators, shooters, and racing games, which I find to be a great way to unwind. Additionally, I enjoy exploring content on YouTube, ranging from sports and gaming to the latest in hardware and technology; I love discovering new things and staying up to date with the tech world. My most recent hobby is collecting Pokémon cards. As a lifelong fan of the franchise, this hobby allows me to combine my interest in collecting and trading with a social aspect, connecting me with a broad community of fellow enthusiasts.
